How to Maintain Your Balayage Between Visits

A great balayage is an investment. Here's how to keep your colour soft, bright and dimensional for as long as possible between salon appointments.

The whole point of a bespoke balayage is that it grows out gracefully — no harsh regrowth line, no urgent re-do every four weeks. But "low maintenance" doesn't mean "no maintenance." A few small habits will keep your colour looking salon-fresh for months.

Wash less, and wash cooler

Every wash gently lifts colour and strips natural oils. Stretching your washes to two or three times a week keeps tone and shine for longer. When you do wash, skip the scalding water — hot water opens the cuticle and lets colour escape. Lukewarm is your friend.

Use colour-safe, sulphate-free products

Sulphates are aggressive cleansers that fade hand-painted colour fast. A quality sulphate-free shampoo and a weekly purple toning treatment (for blondes) will hold your tone between visits. We'll recommend exactly what suits your hair when you're in the chair.

Protect it from heat and sun

UV and hot tools both oxidise colour. A heat protectant before styling and a hat on long beach days go a long way. It's the same logic we use in the salon — every decision protects the hair.

Book your gloss top-ups

A quick toning or gloss appointment every 8–10 weeks refreshes dimension and shine without a full colour service. It's the single best way to make your balayage last. When you're due, get in touch and we'll sort a quick refresh.
