Cutting

How Often Should You Really Cut Your Hair?

Every six weeks? Every twelve? The honest answer depends on your hair and your goals. Here's how we think about cutting frequency at BIBA.

It's the question we hear most: how often do I actually need a cut? The internet says "every six weeks," but the truth is more nuanced — and depends entirely on your hair and what you want from it.

If you're growing it out

Counter-intuitively, growing your hair still needs regular trims — just smaller ones. A light dusting every 10–12 weeks removes split ends before they travel up the strand, so your length stays healthy as it grows. Skip it entirely and you'll lose more to breakage than you gain in length.

If you're maintaining a shape

Short, structured cuts lose their shape fastest. To keep that sharp line and clean finish, every 4–6 weeks is ideal. Mid-length styles can usually stretch to 6–8 weeks before the shape softens.

Most of our clients land at 6–8 weeks

For the majority — a trim, a treatment, a blow-dry — every six to eight weeks keeps things looking intentional without dramatic changes. No pressure, just consistent care that keeps you feeling fabulous.

The best answer comes from a conversation. When you're in the chair, we'll tell you exactly what your hair and your goals call for.
